I just realized that the lack of acceptance for asexuals is literally the dumbest thing.
Like, you can’t handle the thought of two dudes kissing? Okay you’re dumb and terrible whatever.
But you can’t handle the idea… Of someone… Not kissing anyone? What are you worried about? They’re gonna eat too much mac n cheese?? Draw too many dinosaurs??? Tell me
i think that we’re viewed as a threat more than anything else.
think about it. we live in this culture that is very over-sexed, very over-romanced, where a romantic+sexual relationship is generally treated as The Ultimate form of love. the pedestal on which we as a culture place romance and sex is extremely high, and extremely ubiquitous.
and here are we: the aromantics, the asexuals saying everything from “meh” to “these things are actively harmful to me.” by our very existence we point out that the pedestaling of romance and sex is an artifact of societally-bestowed importance, not something that is innate to human nature, and that is threatening.
and not only do we exist, we’re being increasingly vocal about it. in the early days of the community there was a ton of effort poured into saying no, aces and aros are sex-positive and they have sex and blah blah blah so on and so forth, but now? now there’s pushback from the sex-averse aces—who are much more common, i might add—and the ace community is leveling more and more criticism at the sex positive movement, and aros are getting more vocal about not wanting romance, and in general there’s a trend toward becoming an active rather than a passive threat to the ways in which sex and romance are glorified in our culture.
we’re here, we’re yelling, and we’re directly threatening the pervasive attitude that sex and romance are at the cornerstone of all human interaction.
that’s why allos are so fucking scared of us.
#CommonCore This is how the Government gets the unemployment rate.
What. The. Fuck. Is. This. Shit.
what “progressive” education in america is turning into.
THE FUCK’S THIS SHIT
what the hell is that supposed to even mean? I had to read over the explanation twice, and I’m taking algebra 2.
"by totally ignoring the problem and pulling numbers out yo ass, that’s how"
it’s literally supposed to be “make things into tens and then add the remainder”, like it’s supposed to make adding easier; it’s not trying to say 8+5=10.
common core teaches ALL kids to use ALL methods to find an answer instead of doing the normal thing of using the most basic method and then helping kids who don’t understand that by giving them a different method. common core takes up more time teaching less things and i hate it and it’s the worst.
Everyone needs a little reassurance once in a while, and that’s ok. Some need it more often than others, and that’s ok too.
